Meet Alan K Gray: 2012 Bella Conductor

While Bella’s founding conductor, Chris Burcin, is on leave for 2012 Belle a Cappella will be under the experienced leadership of the distinguished Alan K Gray.

Mr. Gray is currently Musical Director at Nelson’s Christchurch Cathedral where he conducts the Cathedral Choir. He also founded and directs Chroma Choir, a 24-voice adult choir with a particular emphasis on 16th-century polyphony and contemporary compositions.

He has conducted a large variety of choirs of all ages and, in his previous life in the UK, was Head of Music & Performing Arts at a large comprehensive school for 25 years.

Bella and Waimea College are fortunate to have his expertise and passion for the year. Learn a bit more about Alan from this Nelson Mail article (2010).
